ImageWow. THAT WAS AWESOME! 1.5 miles of trail cut! The ESA crew wants to send our biggest shout out yet for a seriously successful day to:

  • Our volunteers
  • Crew leaders
  • Trail designers Scott, Ryan, and Scott
  • Erie Parks and Rec staff
  • Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado
  • Boulder Mountainbike Alliance
  • Miner’s Tavern
  • Polar Bottle
  • Mountainsmith

THANK YOU! You are making this happen. For those of you who couldn’t make it, don’t worry, we are just starting this whole trail building thing and we still need your help. Check our EVENTS page for the next build days, starting with Sept 10th at 6PM at Sunset west.

If you had any doubt, you know now that when we come together as a community, we can build trail. We have 1.5 miles down and as we speak we have that same amount and more flagged with great flowy lines. We’ve got work to finish on the west side and are chomping at the bit to get you to see the east side and all of its potential. Let’s see what we can put together this season!

Looking back to Sept 7th, we worked with hikers, people from outside Erie, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, and people who haven’t ridden their bikes in 15 years now thinking about getting it out of the garage and on the trails. Volunteering with us were families, young kids getting into BMX, folks of all ages, roadies getting dirty for the first time in years, and of course cycle cross and mountain bikers. Everyone is excited about getting to trails without having to get in their cars. We met our neighbors, made new friends, and got to know more people in our community. Some people put in monster efforts and some of us made some trail and got a nice tan. Overall we HAD FUN and built trail! Everyone survived a hot day and got to enjoy a fun after party with some great free food, beer and giveaways. Thank you for being there!

We plan a formal opening in the near future but in the meantime consider your hard work an invitation to enjoy the soft opening of our Erie Sunset trail system.

Please remember to respect the trails and the open space they are on. Keep off after the rains, stick on the tread and don’t leave anything behind that wasn’t already there. Have fun, be friendly, and tell everyone you know about it and get them involved and helping.

Tell us what you thought of our build day – what was your favorite part? Tell us where your section was and why it rocks! When will you ride it first? When will you be back to build more trail? Tell us what we can do to improve as an organization!

Huge thanks to Lee Carter at Miner’s Tavern for feeding us again! Go there and eat!

Thanks to Echo Brewing for helping us with delicious beer! They will be in Erie this fall, go get a beer there or say hi to them when you are in Frederick!

Thanks to Jill Wait, Gary Hegner and the Erie Parks and Rec staff. Professional, on point, and really showed us their passion. Tell them they are doing a great job.

Thanks to our Trail Designers for the marathon pin flagging sessions and killer flow. Hook these guys up huge when you see em. They are out here a lot!

Thanks to the many Volunteer Organizations who let us use their tools: Check them out! Volunteer Outdoors Colorado, Boulder Mountainbike Alliance.

THANK YOU! See you soon!
