First Two Miles of Trail Complete
When: Thursday, 27 February 6:00-9:00 PM
Where: Miner’s Tavern, Old Town Erie
Erie Singletrack Advocates is proud to announce the first two miles of trail have been completed at Sunset West in the open space at the east side of Erie.
The work was completed by hundreds of local volunteers who donated over 1,400 hours during the 36 work days since ground was first broken on September 7, 2013. Trails have been open and in heavy use by cyclists and runners even while volunteers have continued the work, demonstrating the pent-up demand for just such a space.
The work of Erie Singletrack Advocates has been endorsed by Erie Mayor, Joe Wilson, who stated “Erie is your town. Thank you for making it better,” at a June 2013 Town Council Meeting.
A community celebration for the Two Mile Marker is planned for 6:00 pm Thursday, February 26 at Miner’s Tavern in Old Town Erie. Bring your family to join the celebration and learn more about ESA. There will be lots of door prizes, free taco bar, beverages, beer by Industrial Revolution and Echo Brewing Company, and Odd13
Future plans for the trails include building out an additional 3.5 miles of singletrack trail by the end of 2014 and events such as cyclocross racing, youth cross-country running and many skills development clinics for the local community.
