The meeting with Open Space and Trails Advisory Board went so well that we need to keep this momentum and get in front of the elected members of the Board of Trustees.
I’ll be presenting the idea of a small section of singletrack and a pump track to the Board of Trustees at their next public meeting. The plan is to introduce the ESA and talk about our intentions. We want to get approval for a small group of bike enthusiasts to take shovels and rakes out on the open space and create a short section of singletrack along the west side of the Coal Creek. We also want to build a pumptrack or two on the land behind the Public Works building, which is on the South side of Erie Commons.
Here’s a quick drawing of the request. Red = singletrack, Blue = area for pumptrack
The idea is to get a small section of trails in place and see how much use they get. The more people who are interested the better. If we start small and grow this organically there are much more options for quality trails, features, and parks to support our interests in the future.
